Double Decker Is Here
There are also many other events that are held inside the festival. One of them is The Spring Run. This is a 10k run, 5k run and walk, or a kid’s walk. Everyone can participate in the race across the University of Mississippi campus. “I am really excited to participate in the run, I have done a few before but not one at this event.” freshman Renae Wiegand said.
Another activity is the Double Decker Road Ride. This is an event for all bike riders to ride on a 10, 24, 50, or 66 mile long path across Lafayette County. The ride starts at 9am and there will be bike maintenance for it starts. During the race there will also be service stops and refreshments before and after. Participants must register for the run and the bike ride.
The children will be able to have a good time too at the Children’s Square Fair. They can be entertained with games, crafts, and activities that are great for all ages. There is also a best dressed pet contest for any type of animal! The Double Decker is great for anyone in the family.
With this being such a big event, it has drawn in many musicians, artists, and food vendors to showcase their goods throughout the weekend. Bands including North Mississippi Allstars, Glen David Andrews, and Shooting Out The Lights will all be there plus more. Oxford’s favorite restaurants will be providing food from Taylor Grocery, The Little Dooey BBQ, Rooster’s, and much more. Local artists will be all around showing their work to all. "My mom's artwork will be showcased in a tent in front of Taylor's Grocery." junior Jessica Seay commented.
The Double Decker Art Festival is a huge event every year that many look forward to. There are great bands, food, and art to look at and buy. There are plenty activities and entertainment to fill the whole weekend. So drop what you’re doing and come out this weekend for a good time with family and friends in Oxford.
