Fairytales Do Come True When spring time arrives it brings blooming flowers, baseball games, and wedding season. Most of the weddings that occur in the spring are simple and traditional. However, for Kate Middleton of England, it is a different story for her wedding which is a true, visual fairytale. The wedding of the decade occurred this past Friday, April 29, 2011. The couple receiving their vows was Kate Middleton and Prince William of Wales. Kate Middleton grew up in Berkshire, England and met her prince while the two attended school together at the University of St. Andrews. Their relationship started out as friends and then turned into a romantic bond. After a few years of dating the couple got engaged and announced their big news on November 16, 2010 and it was published all around the world. As soon as the news spurred of the new engagement, people started wondering if the new upcoming Royal Wedding would be as magnificent as Prince William’s mother and father, Princess Diane and Prince Charles, which occurred in the 90’s. The people were proven correct as 5.22 million viewers around the world witnessed the Royal Wedding. Caitlin Miclot, a regular visitor of England, watched the wedding occur from the television of her home. “My favorite footage of the wedding was when Kate Middleton stepped out of the car showing off her dress for the very first time.” There was an estimated 1900 guests who attended the wedding. The wedding took place in Westminster Abbey at Central London. While the wedding was occurring, residents from the city stood outside the building patiently waiting for the newlyweds to walk out on the balcony for the first time as the new Royal couple. The couple was the first to walk out accompanied by the other members of the Royal Family and the wedding party. The couple kissed to show their love and caused a big shock when the two unexpectedly kissed for a second time. The crowds went crazy shouting their admiration for the new couple of the country. Leslie Anne Leach, a student at Ole Miss, doing a research paper for English 101 on the Royal Wedding said, “The wedding information I researched educated me on previous royal weddings as well and when I saw Kate and Prince William kissing a second time it showed that the couple truly loved each and that it was obvious the two weren’t forced into the marriage like previous royal marriages.” To view more information and photos of the wedding visit the website http://www.thenewcurrent.com/2011/05/02/news-royal-wedding-2011-retrospective-%E2%80%93-will-kate/.
