Double Decker
This past weekend the sixteenth annual Double Decker Arts Festival took this place in Oxford, Mississppi. The festival included art, food, music, and a spring run.
During Friday and Saturday included many concerts. The artist that were featured were Okkervill River, Black Joe Lewis, Rising Fife and Drum, Valerie June, Shooting Out The Lights, Eric Lindell and Glen Davis Andrews. On Sunday Aaron Hall, Jimmy Philipps Band, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Justin Townes Earle, and North Mississippi Allstars played.
There was also a Spring Run that took place. There was a 10K Run, 5K Run, 5K Competitive Walk, and a Kids Fun Run. The course went through Ole Miss’s campus and Oxford Neighborhoods. Both courses were fit for competing athletes and for the beginners.
“The streets were very crowded but overall I had a blast,” freshmen Adirana Liendo said. There was in major increase in crowds this year. The crowed ranged in ages from kids to the elderly. People came from all around the area for Double Decker weekend.
“The bands were awesome, there was a variety in vendors, the run was quite a workout and there was plenty of food,” freshmen Mary Katherine O’Hagan said. There were vendors selling everything from clothes to painted pictures. All of the restaurants were open along with plenty of both full of carnival food.
The 16th annual Double Decker weekend was another great success in down town Oxford, MS. We will have to wait just a year to see what next year will bring.
